Finished in Mexico Blue with Red Leatherette interior, this sporty 911L Coupe is sure to be a blast to drive. The powerplant of this 1968 Porsche is a 2-liter flat six-cylinder engine that is capable of producing 130-hp. The five-speed manual transmission shifts smoothly and the engine revs freely and sounds great. This Porsche sports many options including the ‘Golde’ Electric Sunroof (many Porsche enthusiasts say this is a rare option), a tinted windshield, a Blaupunk radio, headrests and Dunlop tires. The ‘L’ was made exclusively for the American market, and they were only produced in 1968, and only 449 were built. The “S” was not exported to the United States in 1968 due to emissions standards. Porsche creatively found a way to explore the US Market with the new 911 and offered a L version which stood for Luxury it adorned all the 911S features and trim, it rode on the same 911S suspension utilized the same 911S ventilated brakes, used the same engine but with only 130hp instead of the “S” 160hp. The car is virtually a 911S for the American market. This particular example other than being extremely rare it is quite unique. The car was the 14th car built and finished on September 7th 1967, to date Porsche enthusiasts believe no 911L’s were built before October of 1967 due to the requirements of the US standards all cars were postponed till confirmation arrived it met US standards. We have uncovered only 2 known examples that were built before October this being the earliest example. Equipped with a Golde electric sunroof the car is truly a pleasure to drive on the open road. It is said that this Porsche has only had a few owners and it is well cared for and maintained. Thousands have been recently invested to insure the car is in prime running condition. We exercised the vehicle thoroughly in Monterey, Ca for car week at the Pebble Beach Concours events. We won best car in the parking as we used it to drive everywhere. Having traveled over 400 miles in one week, we know the car well and it is one of the finest cars we have owned. Please check out our videos on Facebook and YouTube for a test-drive both links at the top right of this page.
